Last summer, 22 lives were saved by Waimarama Surf Life Saving Club during a busy season of approximately 73,000 beach-goers. Vote today to help the club replace a desperately-needed Inflatable Rescue Boat ahead of another hectic summer season.
Every year, thousands flock to Waimarama Beach in Hawkes Bay but with the beach well-known for its flash rips, the lifeguards are kept busy. In the past two years, Waimarama Surf Lifeguards have saved over 30 people from life-threatening situations and have helped thousands more return home, with the IRBs playing a huge part. In fact, IRBs were a vital resource to Waimarama lifeguards, helping over 36 people in just one day last year. Countless times throughout the summer, IRBs are also called upon to help stranded boats out at sea. Without the IRBs at Waimarama, the Hawkes Bay community wouldn’t be as safe during summer. Every year, lives are saved by Waimarama’s dedicated volunteer IRB Crews – place your vote to help them win this boat.
